The first time the boy saw colours around people he was scared stiff. He just stood there staring at the old woman in the Ponte Vecchio market, mouth hanging open, a scream frozen on his lips. Ezio gritted his teeth with impatience at the interminable mass. He wanted to act, to do something NOW, not just kneel on the cold floor as the Latin words and the murmured responses of the congregation washed over him, helping him to focus despite their intrusive nature. He was tired, hungry, his blood ran high, his hands itched to wield a blade and kill de Pazzi now, here, before he could lift a hand on Lorenzo.
